Alta & Reon wanted a wedding day without too much fuss and formalities. They shared their day with only a few friends and family at Blair Atholl Estate, Lanseria, the first weekend of May.

Alta’s best friend, Jeanne, had seen the dress Alta chose for her wedding dress in a Jenni Button store and just knew it would fit her friend perfectly. Alta really looked like a hot red-carpet celebrity, as Jeanne described her friend! I absolutely loved the simplicity of their decor and completely fell in love with Alta’s very unique wedding ring!

We had plenty of time for their couple shoot as it was their choice (and partly also because the light after their ceremony would be too little) to do the shoot before their guests arrived. We found so many nice spots. One of my favourites was this one, taken on the piece of land where they will be building their new house soon.

I loved their unconventional ceremony with their guests informally gathering around them.

Gerdené & Leon’s wedding day was exquisite! It was my first time shooting at Pecan Manor, Hartbeespoort, and I enjoyed all the pretty details so much! It’s not only a stunning venue but also has such a lovely country atmosphere. Gerdené’s Mom, Marina, was responsible for the stylish decor, which I loved! Their ceremony took place outdoors in a pecan nut plantation where we also spent some time afterwards for some photos of them. Gerdené’s dress was out of this world with such fine detail and apparently it was made in just 3 days! Later that evening, it started pouring with rain just as they were about to open the outdoor dance floor but after waiting a little while they opened the dance floor in the drizzle…:) Enjoy the pics!

Shingayi and Debra met while studying, as so many couples do. But their story is unique because he lives in Jo’burg and she’s from the USA. That sets a new record in my books for long-distance-relationships!

He proposed to Debra while on a visit in the USA, after asking her parents’ blessing and organising every little detail himself, trying to keep it secret off course. He picked a magnificent engagement ring for her, called the Protea ring. They even brought some proteas along for their E-shoot we did at The Westcliff Hotel. This time Debra was visiting and Shingayi organised the shoot for them. Hope you enjoyed your visit in South Africa, Debra, and hope you guys like the pics!!

Chanselize e-mailed me a few weeks ago about their E-shoot. They had just gotten engaged and she explained they would like to enjoy the moment. Valley lodge and spa in Magaliesburg is significant to them as it is the place where Charl proposed. It had been Chanselize’s birthday during that particular week and he organised a “weekend away” for them to celebrate it. She didn’t even get to open any pressies on her birthday! It was all kept as part of Charl’s big surprise for her! I’m sure this is a time in your lives you’ll never forget.

Diane & David got married in March this year and decided to do a Trash the Dress shoot after coming back from honeymoon.

As they both love soccer, Diane organised for their shoot to take place at Soccer City, Soweto. They’ve been to the stadium quite a few times for soccer games and concerts. I was as excited as a child when I heard they wanted Soccer City as their shoot location and it did not disappoint! Here are a few of my favourites from their session.

I was contacted about a month ago, by Julie & Janet from CRO (Central Reservations Office). They were organising one major event – The wedding of Jana & Reg and needed another photographer.I’ve worked with Quintin Mills before, but this time I had the great opportunity to shoot alongside him. While he was with the guys (and groomslady) I was at the Dippenaar home for some shots of Jana and her bridesmaids getting ready. Jana’s dress, designed by Anne de Fredericksz couture (who also designed all bridesmaid dresses), had the most intricate detail which fitted Jana and her personality perfectly. After their couple shoot, the most amazing marquee-tent-reception awaited them on the polo field at Inanda Club and the Mark Belling band (ex-Mean Mr Mustard)  was responsible for a big party on the dance floor!

I have been looking forward to Delmarie & Sean’s wedding so much. One of the reasons was that I often pass by Morrells Boutique Venue and have found myself wishing I could photograph a wedding there.So in a way, it was a granted wish or a dream come true for me to shoot there. Not only that, but Delmarie’s style and elegance also made me excited to see how all the details for their shabby chic french vintage wedding would come together on the day. She spent many hours to making the little details herself. Her dress was made using lace she found in Italy and she had their cake-cutting utensils engraved in America. We did their E-shoot also at Morrells in February and there was no doubt in my mind that these two lovebirds would make super-pretty photos! Thanks to Cicilia Kaufman, Delmarie’s make-up was perfect and accentuated her natural beauty. I also had the opportunity to meet and work alongside the very talented guys from Free the Orange Wedding films – Steven and Isak, who was filming for their wedding video. Can’t wait to see it!

One of the last things I thought I’d have to do while photographing a wedding, was driving a golf car! But it was so much fun!

Marietjie & André’s wedding took place at Vaal de Gráce Golf Estate in the Free State last weekend. I adored the simplicity of the decor with the bold blue and white striped table cloths inside the marquee. The ceremony was held under an open-sided marquee on the Golf Course and the guests had to drive there with golf cars. After the ceremony, guests were treated to a picnic while we were busy taking couple photos.

The greatest thing, for me, about getting to know my clients is if they share their story with me. As I’ll be the one shooting your wedding, you and your most special day is important to me.To hear about the wedding ideas you might have, what you are planning and to just spend time to get to know you a little better, even before taking photos. This was the case with Jaclyn (pronunciation: Jaslyn) & Ken. We had such a long and great meeting and I was so looking forward to their E-shoot, which we did over the Easter weekend. They will be getting married later this year at Isiphiwo.

When we almost finished the session, 3 horses came strolling out of nowhere and we decided to quickly snap a few more! Before I knew it the horses walked right up to where we were standing and one of them almost stepped on my camera bag! When I saw that the horses looked quite tame I wanted to take a few more pics with them in the background, but Jaclyn was nowhere to be found! I looked around and saw her a few metres away, ready to run if anything scary happened. Needless to say that was the end of our shoot, a quite exciting one!

I met Karen & Eugene almost 2 years ago when Karen contacted me to photograph their wedding (See some of their pics here).Little did I know that we would become friends and that I would also photograph her baby-bump! How awesome is that?! Karen is such an inspiration to me as she is the main creative genius behind Lovilee, an online inspiration and ideas blog for brides-to-be, moms-to-be and homemakers. After many emails going back and forth about ideas, location options etc, Karen decided that we must do their shoot in their Olivedale home. I was delighted to see little Ka(e)lebs room and all the little details they’ve prepared for him. I must say I can’t wait to meet him as he is bound to be just as special, loveable and gorgeous as his parents are!
